For Sale: 2003 Land Rover Discovery in Newtown, Connecticut for sale in Newtown, CT
Vehicle Description 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE First produced in 1989 as an addition to the Land Rover line up, to set in behind the more upscale Range Rover, the Discovery and Discovery II used the same underpinnings as the Range Rover on a slightly more agile off road body structure.
It came equipped with AWD, a V8 and coil sprung suspension front and rear.
Of course, as people wanted more comfort in their SUVs, by 2003 the Disco II had become close to it's Range Rover older sibling in terms of comfort conveniences while still holding it's own off the highway.
This vehicle has been owned by the same family since new in late 2002 where it was leased initially from Land Rover Darien, CT.
, then purchased outright when the lease expired.
It has been well cared for over it's life, generally maintained at the dealership or local foreign car specialist.
Currently has 145,000 miles on the 4.
6L V8.
In going through family issues recently, the check engine light came on while one of the owner's children was driving the truck and parked for several months as they weren't sure what to do with the truck.
As it turns out, the code was for low amperage and a new battery was just installed prior to this photo shoot.
The traction control light and hill descent lights are on, but both seem to be working correctly.
255/55/18 Nitto AT Terra Grapplers were installed in late 2014 and show minimal wear.
Despite being originally brought into the LR line up as a less upscale model, by 2003 the Discovery had all the same bells and whistles as the Range Rover.
Dual sunroofs, leather interior, AC (still blows nice and cold), PS, PB (discs all around), heated, power seats, power locks and mirrors, tilt wheel, cruise control, navigation, Hill Descent, Traction Control, High and Low range transfer case, fold down/removable rear seats, bumped up rear roof line, HID lights, roof rack and many other bits make this a very comfortable vehicle to enjoy the outback in.
In one unfortunate incident during a LR sponsored wheels event, the son of the owner bumped a large overhanging branch and cracked the windshield and A-pillar plastic molding.
The glass was replaced, the molding was not.
The interior and exterior are both in very good shape.
Some minor wear on high touch areas and a sagging headliner are all that detract inside and on the outside, some sap stains on the bonnet and swirl marks in the paint from car washes.
The car was rarely kept inside the garage.
There is a spot of surface rust in the left rear door sill and some surface rust on the undercarriage but over all, very clean and ready for another 100,000 miles.
The Series I and II Discos are starting to show popularity in the market and are mimicking the Toyota Landcruiser in it's value rise.
This one can be purchased and driven as is, ready to go and be enjoyed both on road and off or used as a weekend vehicle, pampered and brought up a notch or two as a possible investment.
The family is now selling due to a divorce, other wise it would be kept on.
